Optimate Announcement: Senior Leadership Update

General

Dear Optimate customer and relations,

In the past 12 months, Optimate has strengthened its focus on being the best-of-class data integration company in the Operational Data domain, and truly Power your Operational Intelligence. We have seen that reflected in both the positive feedback we received from many of you, as in the growing engagement in great projects and initiatives. Especially in these times that shows a great deal of trust in us – thank you!

To make sure we are positioned to deliver and exceed your expectations, we strive continuously to align the vision and strategy of Optimate to the personal passion and energy of our people. In that process, we agreed to a change in our senior leadership. As of June 30, 2020 Steve Miller will resign from Optimate and the Optimate Board of Directors, and explore an independent initiative aimed at developing innovative data management solutions.

Steve is recognised in Australia and abroad as one of the primary thought leaders and visionaries in Data Management and Data Contextualisation. He has expressed to us his desire to fully concentrate on this topic and follow his passion. To this end we came to an amicable and cooperative decision that segregation from Optimate was in the best interest of both Steve and Optimate.

This decision was not taken lightly by either of us. Steve founded Optimate over 20 years ago and has been the embodiment of the organisation throughout the years. He was CEO until October last year, and after handing over to me he has continued as Lead for the Context and Quality Practice and invaluable mentor for the incoming Executive Team. To say he will be missed is an understatement.

Between now and the end of June we will execute handover of current projects and relations; this process has started in the background and will ensure a seamless transition from a customer perspective. If you have any concerns or questions, please reach out to myself, Naomi Robinson or your Optimate account manager.

On behalf of Optimate and the Optimate Board of Directors, I wish Steve Miller all success in the exciting journey he is embarking on. Take care, Steve!

Kind regards

Francois Mevis

Client Care Packs

General

From early March onwards Optimate put in place a series of preparatory steps to ensure business as usual and customer support during the COVID-19 outbreak. As well as internal periodic (multiple times per week) information and guidelines to our staff, we are keeping our customers front and foremost of concern for their wellbeing.

We are now rolling out to clients who find it necessary to operate at the coal front a complimentary “Client Care Pack” from Optimate.  These packs include social distancing floor decals and various sized Anti-Microbacterial film which can be used around their workplace from PureZone.  Door handles and touch screens are most benefited.

PureZone is quite revolutionary and has been tested and certified according to ISO 2196 norm.  It ensures a guaranteed neutralisation of 99.99% of common pathogens like Escherichia coli / Salmonella enterica / Listeria monocytogenes / Staphylococcus aureus / Staphylococcus aureus resistant to meticillin (MRSA) / Pseudomonas aeruginosa. All these bacteria are responsible for gastroenteritis, fever, listeriosis, weakened immune defences, urinary tract infection and skin infections.  Whilst we know that virus bugs are everywhere (and we don’t pretend that this kills a virus), it’s still a great way to eliminate some of these bacteria around your workplace to keep your staff healthier!  This PureZone film will have lasting benefits for up to 5 years.

If you would like more information please let us know or contact our supplier direct @FXSigns.

Stay well!

Response to the COVID-19 outbreak

General

To all our customers and partners,

I’d like to update you on the measures Optimate has put in place in response to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak.

Over the last couple of weeks we have prepared our organisation to continue all work from home or another ‘remote’ location, including remote access to our customer systems. These preparations have been completed successfully; we are set up to deliver high-quality and reliable service under all circumstances.

For those customers where we are an embedded part of your team in your offices, we’ll align to the measures you put in place. If it makes sense to work from your offices we’ll continue to do that, if your preference is to work remote we are fully capable of continuing our service from remote locations.

Internally we have taken the following additional measures.

As of Monday, March 16th all our employees default work location will be from home, only coming into our offices when essential. Employees in risk categories already made this shift in an earlier stage.

In addition we have issued a travel ban for non-essential travel.
If you have any questions regarding this message, or would like specific information about our support to your organisation, please feel free to reach out.

On behalf of Optimate Pty Ltd, take care,

Francois Mevis

Welcome to the Optimate Team Alan Lark

General

Alan Lark is a new addition to the Optimate team, based in Perth. Now he is a couple of weeks in, we wanted to share a little bit more about him.

Tell us a little about you and your background?
I’ve spent the last 10 years working in the Power utility sector within Western Australia, originally as a Power Systems engineer but gradually moving more into operational data, performance engineering and analytics.  My most recent prior role was leading a business intelligence and analytics team, with a strong focus on developing a Microsoft Azure based analytics platform.

How did you come to be working at Optimate?
I’ve worked with Optimate as a customer for around 6 ½ years.  I’ve always had a strong interest in operational technology and saw a role with Optimate as a natural fit for my technical and domain experience, and a great opportunity to gain exposure to broader industries.

What have the team had you doing so far?
So far I’ve been getting hands on with some ongoing decommissioning and PI System builds works, as well as some system architecture design.

Have you managed to visit any customers on site yet?
I’ve been up and down the terrace a few times to client offices but I’m yet to get on site.  I’m eager to get out and see what our customers do.

What do you think the future is for the industry?
I think the demand for operational technology expertise is only growing as companies are still discovering the value of their data, especially outside the traditional usage of operational trending.  There are also exciting emerging industries such as renewable energy which provide a great opportunity for our company.

Our 2020 Services and Solutions Overview

General

Dear Customers and Partners,

It gives me great pleasure to proudly present Optimate’s 2020 Services and Solutions overview.

Over the past months, we have had great conversations and feedback from our customers and partners, in addition to insightful reflections and evaluations of our knowledgeable colleagues. We have taken those ideas, questions, and feedback, and used it to focus our strategy along the lines of our mission statement: Powering Operational Intelligence.

The potential of operational data to improve business processes, reduce waste and facilitate digital business models is enormous and – still – largely untapped, but can only be achieved through an integrated and coherent strategy from the source of the data to the dashboard or predictive model. That’s why the Optimate Services and Solutions approach is built on four practices that hold the core of our capabilities. From the core of process control and device-generated data, via data integration and acquisition in historian solution, contextualisation and data quality management, to sensible visualisation and advanced modelling that drives better decisions.

But it’s not only what we do, but also how we do it. Driven by our core values of Accountability and Transparency, our approach is collaborative, honest and result-focussed. We understand no one solution will be the same for every client, and circumstances change. The foundation we build with you today will enable a long-term solution for your every data need now and in the future. We welcome you to come on this journey with us and letting us showcase to you how our Services and Solutions will best serve you.

You can learn more about them here:  http://optimate.net.au/optimate-services-solutions/

Or, reach out to me or my team personally for an introductory meeting.

We are with certainty that the road ahead will be full of exciting initiatives from our unified team.

Kind regards,

Francois Mevis

Welcome back Michael!

General

Michael Jones is back working with the Optimate family! He returned fresh in 2020 and we thought it would be a great idea to catch up for a chat now he has settled back in.

How did you come to be working at Optimate?

I was introduced to the Optimate team while working as a contractor for Origin Energy back in 2011. I was impressed by the company’s range of technical skills and the enthusiastic culture and joined the company that year.

I left Optimate mid last year to pursue a new opportunity but welcomed the opportunity to rejoin with the team this year. I’m a PI specialist and really enjoy working with clients to keep them updated, while providing high quality service.

What have you been working on during your first few weeks at Optimate?

Getting to know the team and clients again, opening new doors for training and upskilling. As well as working as a team on our key areas of who we are supporting in the business environment – both externally and internally.

What will you be working on for the next few weeks?

Collaborating on our PI System deployment to ensure we have the highest standards, client project support and internal development.  I also heard rumour Naomi will be needing some help packing when we move to 480 Queen in a few short months.

Last question! What do you think the future is for this industry?

The future looks great. The amount of data industry generates is increasing rapidly and this data needs to be managed to obtain the maximum benefit from it.
