It gives me great pleasure to proudly present Optimate’s 2020 Services and Solutions overview.

Over the past months, we have had great conversations and feedback from our customers and partners, in addition to insightful reflections and evaluations of our knowledgeable colleagues. We have taken those ideas, questions, and feedback, and used it to focus our strategy along the lines of our mission statement: Powering Operational Intelligence.

The potential of operational data to improve business processes, reduce waste and facilitate digital business models is enormous and – still – largely untapped, but can only be achieved through an integrated and coherent strategy from the source of the data to the dashboard or predictive model. That’s why the Optimate Services and Solutions approach is built on four practices that hold the core of our capabilities. From the core of process control and device-generated data, via data integration and acquisition in historian solution, contextualisation and data quality management, to sensible visualisation and advanced modelling that drives better decisions.

But it’s not only what we do, but also how we do it. Welcome back Michael!

Michael Jones is back working with the Optimate family! He returned fresh in 2020 and we thought it would be a great idea to catch up for a chat now he has settled back in.

How did you come to be working at Optimate?

I was introduced to the Optimate team while working as a contractor for Origin Energy back in 2011. I was impressed by the company’s range of technical skills and the enthusiastic culture and joined the company that year.

I left Optimate mid last year to pursue a new opportunity but welcomed the opportunity to rejoin with the team this year. I’m a PI specialist and really enjoy working with clients to keep them updated, while providing high quality service.

What have you been working on during your first few weeks at Optimate?

Getting to know the team and clients again, opening new doors for training and upskilling. As well as working as a team on our key areas of who we are supporting in the business environment – both externally and internally.

What will you be working on for the next few weeks?

Collaborating on our PI System deployment to ensure we have the highest standards, client project support and internal development.  I also heard rumour Naomi will be needing some help packing when we move to 480 Queen in a few short months. 

Last question! What do you think the future is for this industry?

The future looks great. The amount of data industry generates is increasing rapidly and this data needs to be managed to obtain the maximum benefit from it.

As this year draws to a close, I’d like to thank you on behalf of the team at Optimate for your support, feedback and great conversations in the past 12 months. You have given us the opportunity to collaborate on so many innovative and challenging projects and build solid relationships with the fantastic people to make up the operational data community.

Optimate will continue to transform in 2020 as we keep on developing our team and capability. Based on our core values of Accountability and Transparency we look forward to work together with you in the new year; we’ll ask lots of questions, throw some curve balls, present problem-solving solutions, engage divergent thinking, be slightly annoying as we are stubborn engineers, and deliver great projects together.

Welcome to our new team member Lachlan!

Lachlan Gordon started with the Optimate team at our Brisbane office a little over four weeks ago now and we thought it was time to get to know him a little better.

How did you come to be working at Optimate?

I started out working in the IT Industry working around Brisbane before realising I wanted something a bit more challenging. I made the decision to study a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechatronics and Robotics at QUT. Upon leaving UNI I was working in the Building Management Services (BMS) Industry as a control systems engineer which sparked my passion for smart technology integration.

What have you been working on during your first few weeks at Optimate?

I am currently learning PI and getting my PI accreditation.

What will you be working on for the next few weeks?

I will continue with my training and completing the accreditation. I am also scheduled to complete Claroty – Cyber Security partner training.

With all of this study and training you are doing.. Have you managed to visit any customer sites yet?

Yes! It has been great to see first hand the work that has been done and is being done at customer sites. As well as the relationships Optimate have built with customers over the years.

What sites have been your favourite so far?

I would say the milk bottling factory and the cement factory would be highlights so far! There has been heaps of innovation and work done by Optimate over the years and It is great to see it all in action.

Last question! What do you think the future is for this industry?

I think the Internet of Things (IoT) and cyber security. Anything to make things more efficient for people.

Ten days in, and I can honestly say, I have never been more excited for the future of Optimate.

With the transition of myself into the CEO role, and succeeding Steve Miller, we have completed the changes as far as the executive leadership of Optimate goes. It is no doubt a special occasion for all involved, for the first time since the company’s inception, all key leadership roles are now filled by new generation ‘Optimates’.

Naomi Robinson, heading the Eastern regions, and myself are well aware we are filling big shoes of the previous leadership, that inspired the company over many years of success. I bring with me their full support and encouragement.

As our business grows in scale and complexity, we are increasing transparency throughout our processes. By driving greater accountability for ourselves, we will lead with impact and tackle head-on the areas where we can improve.

First and foremost this will become visible in our invigorated focus on flawless execution. We will exceed our benchmarks.

The core values of accountability and transparency are reflected in our relations with you, our customers. Realising outstanding and lasting value together remains our driving passion, and I’m using those words with intent. The combination of experience, innovation and motivation in our people is something I’m very proud of, and frankly, a bit protective; we have an exceptional team, which enables us to provide our customers with the Optimate Edge.

And we’re here for the long run. We build lasting strategic relationships with our customers. We challenge, suggest, innovate but above all work together with our customers, as one team with a single objective.

Change of Upper Level Management

Announcement from Steve Miller – Founder and CEO of Optimate Pty Ltd

 It is with great pleasure I would like to announce exciting changes within the Management team at Optimate. Our Regional Manager – West, Francois Mevis is stepping into the role of CEO at Optimate Pty Ltd as of the 1st October 2019.

Francois has been with Optimate for 15 months now has as the Regional Manager – West has come to learn and understand our business very well. Having worked with him over the years providing services to assist with his business solutions, we have had many years and many situations with which to test the respect that we had gained for Francois, prior to him joining Optimate.

With over 20 years of experience in delivering effective business solutions that integrate people, processes and technology he has brought significant depth and dimension to the benefit of Optimate. Francois role as Regional Manager – West will remain with him for at least the short term while he evaluates the impact of the growth we are experiencing and the administrative changes we have made.

Naomi Robinson has stepped in to the role of Regional Manager – East. Naomi joins us with a depth of experience in selling and delivering software solutions into the mining industry. Her experience in liaising with customers and building teams to deliver to the customers requirements will assist Optimate to grow our customer base in new areas and build our team to meet these challenges.

I will move into a Principal Consulting role within Optimate. In leading the data management practice I intend to ensure that the decision automation journey our customers are on, is as resilient as possible to the onslaught of continuous change.

Mark Darlington is also moving into a Principal Consulting role within Optimate. Marks significant experience and pragmatic approach when leading and delivering business outcomes will again be available to our customer base.

Optimate has been delivering Automation and Integration expertise for our diverse and impressive customer base for over 15 years. These latest management changes complete a transition for Optimate to move the Directors / Shareholders out of management roles and to create a more sustainable organisational structure for the future.
